the ageratum effect on the first day of spring

Some random photographs from around the backyard to celebrate the official first day of spring.

 Spiderworts are actually a much softer blue, tending toward a soft purple or lavender, than it appears in this picture.
 The yaupon trees behind the finch aviary are a living snowdrift of white flowers being buzzed by honeybee and bumblebee alike.

I discovered these old wind chimes in the alley behind the back fence and added the tree agate and the jade horn good luck charm to replace the missing bells.
 Why, yes, as a matter of fact, that is Salvia, the official plant of gas stations everywhere. But the hummingbirds love it, and who am I to argue?
