It's enough to make you wonder why we bothered to dump all that tea in the harbor... Thought for the day: In modern fiction, we never use the word "exclaim." No one, ever, "exclaims" anything. If you think she "exclaimed" something, step away from the keyboard until you calm down. Thank you! Seriously, tho. The English teacher who taught people that "exclaim" is a word should be arrested for malpractice. You wouldn't tolerate this level of shittiness from a lawyer or a doctor. Where is the ethics? It isn't like this is a new rule. This has been the same rule since I dunno. I want to say 1922? Some historian will have to figure it out because there can't be many people left alive who remember this being used as a legit word in fiction. It's interesting in a way being on the editing side since I've been a writer for so many years but yikes.
