who's the booby now?
2014-01-07 - 9:15 a.m.
Solved the mystery of the Brown Booby. It's a scope object from where we
were standing, so the cool plan to eyeball the buoy first and then get a
scope on the bird was not quite right. Also it wasn't a buoy, it's a
navigation marker that's way out there. Sigh. However, people are still
seeing the bird, so I hope to go back before it leaves. The Long-Tailed
Duck that I saw there in a previous year has also returned so...
Very little water pressure and no internet when I got up this morning.
It's still freezing and everyone is dripping water to save their pipes but I
don't get why the internet gets an excuse to lay down on the job...
I have already tried two new recipes this year, but neither one of them
captured my attention. I made poultry seasoning and then turkey cutlets with
pan gravy, but I think it was too mild for deep South palates. Maybe
somebody from Kansas would have liked it.
The second recipe was the Tim Ferris low-carb crabcakes without any Ritz
crackers or breading. It was quick and easy but nothing really special
considering the price of crab. Won't try either of those the same way again.
