chest of drawers 2012-06-14 - 11:35 p.m. When last we left our heroes, I had spent $15.17 to refurbish three tables, so I still had a few bucks left out of the $20 I got for selling a table the neighbors abandoned that was too big for me to work on. So, why not invest in a little more paint and see what I can do with it? Two looks at the original chest of drawers tossed out by the neighbors. It was heavily chewed by the hostile orange cat, as well as being stickered and scratched by disturbed children. (Maybe they were disturbed by the angry orange cat?) But, even when it was new, this chest of drawers had the classic OSB butt-ugly look and feel. To achieve the "after" version of a handsome vintage-look piece, I did some light gap-filling with wood putty, some light sanding, an even layer of primer all over the piece. I then brushed on several thin layers of rich brown paint. Final touch: Brush-on black glaze and then texturize it with crumped-up plastic grocery bags. I like the old leather look of black over brown. Now to post on craigslist and see if anyone out there appreciates my artistic vision.
