free entertainment 2012-07-21 - 9:11 a.m. You know how there's medical student syndrome, where the student studies up on each disease and keeps thinking he's caught up? I have something slightly different, but somehow related to this power of suggestion over yourself. As I work on the blog writing job, which is rather encyclopedic and covers a great many species, I keep remembering things like, Wow, a pair of canaries wasn't any trouble at all, and they kept the house filled with song, and Remember that sweetheart of a Goffin's Cockatoo that hopped on Roger in the pet store and tried to sweet-talk him into bringing him home? I'm not going to get any new birds right now. Five may be a low for me, but it's plenty with all the travel I do. Anyway, it's a bad time to bring pet birds into the parish, with the recent announcement of widespread West Nile among the mosquitoes. Still, I can't help thinking, Gosh, that homing pigeon that used to stop at our house was soooooo sweet. The seed feeder was a great idea. I have all kinds of birds coming and going, without any need to provide them with society, toys, housing, and so on.
