it's my right as an american to have an opinion on stuff i know nothing about 2010-09-15 - 10:54 a.m. Don't get the whole Reggie Bush thing. As the headline says at nola.com: Reggie Bush will always be 2005 Heisman Trophy winner to many-- "Everyone still knows Reggie Bush was the best player that year. Look at the runs. He was clearly the best player," said Johnny Rodgers, the 1972 Heisman winner from Nebraska. Yeah, so the college gave him big bucks to make sure he went to their school and played on their team. So? What's wrong with that? We live in a capitalist society and, for some people, getting the big bucks is the big motivator in why they achieve. I'm not seeing that anyone did anything particularly wrong here. A kid has a talent, and the kid wants to monetize that talent, and the kid later proves he was well worth the money. He plays great football and wins a trophy that he earned. He didn't buy the trophy. As some other folks have pointed out, hell, O.J. Simpson is a criminal sitting in jail right now and they didn't take away his Heisman. The trophy should be about football. Period. OK, it probably all just proves how little Peachfront understands about the world of sports, but I can't figure out why they're picking on Bush. Why him, why now. Doesn't every college make sure the kids get money and goodies to attend their school? Isn't that one of the reasons that disadvantaged kids are encouraged to work hard at sports?
