hooded merganser joins my state list
2010-12-30 - 1:49 p.m.
Another beautiful day. Not so windy, either. Maybe I could have returned to the Bald Eagle nest,
but instead I took a spin over to Covington to enjoy the ten visiting Hooded Mergansers that
were splashing and playing on some fancy-pants development's pond. "View them from the
car, and don't scare them away -- we want them for the Covington Christmas Bird Count." So I
viewed them from my car and didn't try for photographs, but trust me, they made an
attractive sight and truly seemed to be enjoying their winter vacation. About ten birds, both
males and females.
