By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. Adult readers only please -- explicit sex and violence. For updates on the "Dead Tree Project" and other topics, you may visit the official fan site, Passages in the Void..

Back home!!! Cookie is glad to see me but must stomp around to express his displeasure. He thought he had cured me of traveling, since it had been a few months.

On the free airport shuttle, a pilot who works out of LGA was making increasingly frantic calls. Apparently, his car was destroyed in a flood at LGA. Plus he couldn't get to work. "Well, I know it's closed, but they're going to route me out of JFK," I heard him way. "Well, then, I know for a fact that there's one seat left going to Montreal, why can't you give me that one?"

Poor guy. Been there, done that. After he hung up, he said he had heard that Atlantic City was destroyed and, because of the power outages, he'd heard nothing from his parents in NYC. What a nightmare.

I already knew I had the upgrade, but apparently I was put into PreCheck as well. I filled out some form in my email months, if not a year ago, and heard nothing more. I never paid the small fee or anything. However, today, the ID checker pulled me out of the security line and waved toward the place where you don't have to take off jacket, shoes, computer, and all that good happy crappy. I guess they have finally seen enough of me to figure out that no planes ever get hijacked when Peachfront is in first class? So, anyway, it was a pleasant surprise.

Pre-departure Bailey's, more inflight. Lunch but not very good. I got the last salad but it wasn't cold and I could only pick at it.

Back home, I collapsed and slept for 13 hours. Still a little foggy and a bit overwhelmed at all I have to do...but of course not nearly as much to do as the poor guy whose job and car (and probably apartment) went swimming in New York. I'm always afraid to look at the disaster news, for fear of it bringing back bad dreams....
