kitchen chemistry

J. came over for a visit. I made a pineapple chiffon pie, although I had always believed that you couldn't use gelatin in a pineapple recipe and I worried that the pie might turn out to be a liquid rather than a solid. But it turned out just fine. It was a little bit Noah's Ark with all the birds inside for the hard freeze, but they were pretty well behaved and we were able to talk without too many comments from the peanut gallery.
