when we first discovered this madagascar sparrowhawk, she was sitting very quietly in the shade of a rather dark tree, proudly clutching her prize, a now headless madagascar kingfisher

No time, no time, so I hope you will enjoy the photo of the Madagascar Sparrowhawk. I tell more of her story in Part 3 of my Madagascar trip report. I don't have time to make a link to the right place, but if you're interested, scroll down to the part entitled November 20, 2007.

DH is having emergency wisdom tooth extraction tomorrow morning. What? That woke you up, I'm sure. Who out there in diaryland is sitting up their chair wondering if I am a cradle robber and he a child bride? Heh. Be assured that he is actually just a few years past 18. Anyway, it looked for ages as if they'd come in OK but that was all their craft and power to deceive. Think good thoughts.

Note: Don't miss my trip report from Madagascar. To my knowledge, we are the first tour to see Madagascar Serpent-Eagle, amongst other brags. Well, the first tour group to see the nest for sure. To start with part one, Ranomafana, click here. To continue with part two, Ampijoroa, click here. Part 3, Masaola, is here. Part 4 is right here. Here's the bird list, and here's the lemur list. And if you still haven't had enough, click here for my one day birding spree of johannesburg
