madagascar magpie-robins: the cute couple of berenty

Don't even think I've run out of photos of my Madagascar adventure. There are plenty more.
I just haven't had time to get them all sorted. (There is a rather large holiday on its way to be planned for.) For today's quick pick, enjoy the
"cute couple" of Berenty, a pair of Madagascar Magpie-Robins that were working on a
nest near the gathering point for the van park. Check out the wing pattern. It's
different for the different races of Magpie-Robin. At Masaola, for example, you would be looking
for an all black-backed, black-winged race.
the female was always delivering twigs here and there, not sure if she'd made a final decision
on the nest site while we were there, or if this species likes to have a dummy nest as well
as the "real" nest, anybody know?
I dreamed last night that I went out to Arthur and Gwen's flight cage, and they had four
babies, two of them too small to survive. Good old Arthur. It's been a long time.
