go away, orange cat, the toyota corolla with the foofy luggage racks for you to sleep on is gone, why are you still hanging around hoping it will change back to yesterday?

2012-05-09 - 8:10 a.m.

I thought the orange cat was a feral cat. Turns out, "Nemo" is a semi-feral cat. Yes, the supposedly feral cat that lived on top of our Toyota Corolla for years is somebody's pet with a name.

The neighbors came by on Sunday afternoon to try to catch "Nemo." I was surprised to see that "Nemo" understood his name and even came to the girl. "Semi-feral" was her word for him, although he seemed to like her well enough. Nonetheless, he was not willing to be bundled into a box and carried to his next destination. Every time she tried to dump him in the box, he made the great escape.

At last report, "Nemo" had fled to the next neighborhood, and the neighbors had to leave him behind. Ho boy. I tactfully suggested that they're welcome to stop by from time to time and try to catch him again, because I'm sure he'll be back.

I even donated the cat-catching towel and a big cardboard carrying box. But, alas, I fear the worse. I fear we're stuck with a feral orange cat on the prowl.

The neighbors have moved away now, and the landlords have hauled away the rest of the stuff they left behind...all except for the orange cat.
