Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

male ruby-throat hummingbird in my window

Not a terrific picture but I couldn't resist a quick snap shot of the irritable male Ruby-Throated Hummingbird sitting guard outside my window. He's kept pretty busy chasing out the other male Ruby-Throats that come by. I still haven't seen any females/immatures this year.

warning -- rant

I realize that most visitors come for my bird and trip information but it is a diary and from time to time I simply must vent. Last night, former counter-terrorism Czar Richard Clarke was on 60 Minutes revealing that, yes, indeedy weedy, Bush Knew, Bush Was Warned, Bush is Doing a Terrible Nay Even Counterproductive Job on the War on Terror, Instead of Pursuing Osama He Pulled Me Aside and Urged Me to Find a Way to Blame it all on Iraq.

OK. I'm glad that even the Reagan appointees are starting to stand up and be counted but there is one thing that bothers me about all this: How long have I been running the "Bush Knew" headline at the bottom of my page? That long, huh? Well, if the lowly Peachfront was aware of Bush's dereliction of duty for all these years and beers, and even the New York Post was aware of it, why did it take 60 Minutes so long to stop and smell the coffee?

My little hummingbird is still sitting there. He has had a busy day guarding the near feeder...but he still looks fatter, if I'm not imagining things.
