By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

the farewell gambling tour, part three -- i finally hit some numbers

2011-11-02 - 9:30 a.m.

UPDATE 2017: My Macao & Hong Kong pictures are missing.

Woke up bright and early to a beautiful blue day. Hurried down to the club, where there was no one in line, and I could finally request my $10 free play. There was only one dice table this morning. I squeezed in with the coupon in one fist and the remaining $65 allocated to my Greektown play in the other. I put the coupon on the line, dude rolls two fives back to back, and I'm in business. The next roller didn't do much but I still held $45 or $50 in chips, and now it's my roll. Finally, friends and neighbors, I have a roll. I roll a 7, four 6s back to back, two fours back to back, and then it starts to break up a little. So I've made three points, and I go up on the 10. The 10 never hits, but I pick up a little more because I roll a couple more 6s somewhere in there. And here's where you wish you were playing for big money, ha ha. When I 7ed out, I was now up $55 and -- more important -- I was finally beating a table on the Farewell Gambling Tour. Go me.

I'm now only down $108 for the Farewell Gambling Tour.

When you walk through the tube to the casino, you overlook a large Catholic church or Cathedral. The street is called St. Antoine, so I thought, and not unreasonably, that it might be a St. Anthony's type. However, when I went on my walk this morning, I could see that it was actually Old St. Mary's. Such a beautiful day. I took quite a few snapshots here and there as I went strolling. Mostly yellow trees, but I found a street of reds and yellows. Since I'm just doing the small Kodak Easy Share, not sure how they'll come out, but it costs nothing to try.

The normal check-out time here is 11 AM. Ridiculous. The lunch places don't even open until 11 AM. I had the unattractive choice of checking my small bag at the bell desk or dragging it around. Then I thought of requesting a noon check-out. They said OK so I hope they remember. It really makes it a lot easier.

OK, this is really funny. No sooner do I type this, then housekeeping is knocking on the door to let me know that I'm showing as already "checked out" in the system. I guess I better take the hint of fate and hit the road.

Also, right afterwards, I tried to check myself in on the Delta website and it advised me to be at DTW three hours early. Really? THREE HOURS???? Oh well, I'm heading off to the wild blue yonder. Stay tuned.

Peachfront's Note: I've been on a travel kick lately. Don't forget to check out my recent adventures. You may want to read part one of the Farewell Gambling Tour, New Orleans, or continue to part one, Detroit to get caught up on my thrilling tale of global gambling hopping around like a crazy rabbit.
