2009-01-11 - 4:11 p.m. Here's a 15/30 hand I played against a loose aggressive player with unusually poor judgment. I have QQ under the gun, so I raise. She three bets. All fold. I 4 bet and hope for a cap, but she just calls. The flop is a drawy board of Q86 with 2 clubs. I cannot let AK of clubs get a free card, and I do not believe she has AA or KK because she didn't cap. Therefore I bet and welcome all the action I can get with top set. After I 7 bet, she calls. Turn is a blank. I bet, she calls. Standard. River is the 4 of clubs, so if she did hold AK of clubs, she is the winner. I beat all other logical hands, although I don't put 75 of clubs (or another suit) out of her range either. So I decide to check/call and take the pot from her flopped set of 8s. Second thoughts: I actually think now that the better river play would be to bet/call. I risk a raise, but the way I did it, I risked having her check behind. Click here to return to my Poker Index with more of my dazzling poker commentary, ha.
