blue, pink, orange, and cocoa colored martinis on this trip 2015-05-03 - 6:26 p.m. Such beautiful weather this weekend. I have tons of photos but right now I lack the energy to edit them, so I'm posting a few just pretty much at random. We stayed in the huge jacuzzi suite of the Old Capitol Inn, which comes with a wine reception each afternoon at 5 PM and a full breakfast in the morning. On Saturday morning, I found out that the bacon was nice and crisp. It had been too long since we'd visited the Petrified Forest, so we headed out for a wonderful stroll through the once and future trees. Amazing the numbers of huge sequoia that must have once lived there. We also enjoyed the beautiful mineral collection in back of the forest. We made a second stop to stroll through the lovely grounds of Mynelle Gardens. In the early afternoon, we lunched at Wasabi, where I had the Blue Crab salad and a blue Appletini. I also tasted some of the shrimp-fried rice that came on the side of DH's shrimp tempura. So tasty that I ate more of that than I intended. Back to the jacuzzi suite to soak and jacuzzi in the tub. A long nap. A quick write-up of some of my thoughts from Friday's concert. More wine and cheese in the courtyard. More snobby koi who pretended not to notice I was there. Then we headed off to Underground 119 where we had a big plate of tamales and the foo-foo drinks of our choice. With the tamales, I had an astonishgly tasty Maker's Mark Sazerac. It had a sort of smoky flavor? Not sure how to describe it but it was amazing. For dessert I had a chocolate martini. And then it was pretty much time to head back to our luxurious suite for an early night.
