The rulse are pretty simple. I need to have seen the bird, in the wild, somewhere in the world. I know that the ABA says that you can count heard birds. I don't count heard birds for my first sighting. I don't plan to hire a combine and cut down a field to see the Yellow or Black Rail, instead of just hearing them, so I think I'm honoring the spirit of why the ruling was made -- without actually putting birds I've never seen on the list.

There are some birds missing from the list that should probably be there, either because I didn't feel I saw them well enough even though they were there and the guide identified them easily and tons of other people saw them -- or because I apparently at the time of the sighting just forgot to note them down and now I'm in doubt whether I saw them in life or in a photo. So there are a few birds it seems like I have seen that are not on the list, most notably at the moment the Zitting Cisticola. Well, I will just have to see them again. All the more reason to get out in the field...

Eh, and sorry if anybody clicks on this before I put all the html breaks in. There are actually so many birds on the list that it's a pain to fix the html without taking a coffee break.
