10cent listing day at eBay so I went ahead and listed some expensive items. Still not convinced that eBay is the way to go, but I'll
give 'em their little chance. Online definitely ISN'T the way to go with
unpolished slabs -- the post office takes all the profit and I do all the work, as
I was reminded today as my first round of eBays from last week came off.
A lot of wrapping and packing and communicating, and all I'm really getting is
(I hope!) some current feedback, so I can start selling for real. But I suppose
we all have to start somewhere.
I have (finally!) started the online catalog project but haven't gotten very far. I've
photographed and discussed the story of our 80 pound quartz crystal
from Hot Springs, Arkansas. The first step, the first story, on the thousand
mile journey.
It's funny how hubby comes home and starts looking around to see if I've found
any more Botswana. He really likes cutting "Bots." We found a truly special one
yesterday, and I will have to get a decent photograph of it. He also finished
slabbing an exceptionally fine piece of Mexican crazy lace. I can't
quite imagine cutting the best piece any further into cabs. I would like to sand and polish it as a
specimen. The pattern is a work of art in itself.
