art and artesia 2003-04-13 - 2:32 p.m. D. joined BF and me for the "Spring for Art" walk in Covington -- lots of free food, wine, and even Jack Daniels. We found a few bargains among the art and antiques, and I even managed to locate a nest of baby birds nesting in an old watering can. We didn't see the adults, but I'm guessing either House Sparrows or Carolina Wrens, because these species love such nesting places. We arrived a bit early to get a good parking place and didn't leave until the bitter end. This morning we had the brunch at Artesia. The service could be best described as glacial, but the food was out of this world. I had the French Omelet, and BF had the fancy schmancy French Toast, while D. had the Eggs Florentine. The oyster and artichoke soup "starter" was remarkable. I can't comment on the crab and crawfish bisque, because D. and BF couldn't be inveigled into sharing a single bite.
