pure food and water, another casualty thanks to our friends bush and katrina? 2007-03-24 - 10:41 a.m. Click back a page to check out my Atlantic City photos. Anybody else freaked out by this poisoned wheat business? It seems to affect the high-end foods (Iams and Science Diet) as well as the generic WalMart brands. And no wonder. Wheat's in everything, isn't it? For now, they're only acknowledging that the rat poison is found in the "wet" foods. And they're probably correct. But since I'm no expert on food technology and I don't understand why only "wet" wheat and not "dry" wheat might have the poison on it, I'm a little antsy. I'm almost out of parrot seed mix (which usually includes dog or monkey biscuits) and I'm down to my last known-to-be-safe pellets. So, even though it's probably completely unnecessary, I'm cooking my own parrot food for awhile. Our tap water has turned nasty-as-hell too. It's well water and really only about 15 years since they even started adding chlorine. Fair enough, but now they're seriously adding chlorine. I surmise that they're worried about contaminants getting into the system from all the breaks caused by our friends Bill and Katrina and probably all the extensive highway repair too. But I can't believe how chemical-y it has started to taste, just in the last couple of days. I hope they can tone it down.
