biloxi spur of the moment 2003-01-09 - 4:36 p.m. Whew. Let me sit down and catch my breath. I left Monday night for a spur-of-the-moment coupon-cashing trip to Biloxi. I also wanted to check out the sales at a jewelry store that was going out of business. The rooms were free at a casino that will go nameless here, so why not? The sale turned out to be a good one, and I snagged a nice Italian gold choker and bracelet set, among other goodies. When I went to cash my coupon, the clerk told me that I had an undisclosed amount of comp points remaining on my account. Now, the last time I played blackjack at the very large casino, they had gotten all huffy and deleted my comp account. Something about me coming back and winning too much money after having already been told not to play there or some such display of bad sportsmanship from the losing casino in question. So I have no idea where the new comp points could have come from. But I'll sure take 'em. I asked for breakfast for two at their buffet -- the less said the better about breakfast buffets in general and this one in particular -- and dinner for two at their Asian-themed fine-dining restaurant -- where I had a won ton soup and a Szchewuan chicken to die for. The service was also terrific, in striking contrast to the aforementioned buffet experience, which reminded me of the old joke: "Buffet is French for get yer own damn food."
