a day for birdie projects 2012-12-15 - 6:29 p.m. A day for working on bird-related projects. It was way past time for some refurb on Courtney and Dale's flight cage. The nest box was getting wobbly, and Courtney wouldn't use it. DH reinforced it and also added a fancy new entrance perch. (You can see before and after photos by visiting my dedicated Peachfronted Conure site.] While the two of them were out, I also gave the entire flight a good scrubbing with white vinegar. I'm low on spare cages now, so they whiled away a couple of hours together in Cookie's indoor cage. Don't worry. Cookie was outside enjoying the beautiful weather in his palatial parrot estate on the porch at the time. DH also designed and built a better playpen for the dining room window, and I sat with Nyota while she gave it a test drive. Two thumbs up from this little peachfaced lovebird. She tested every perch, she went down to play in the paper on the bottom, then flew up to scold each passing small bird that she saw out the window. She had a blast. Of course, now it's only 6:30 and she's already pooped out. Her head is twisted around on her shoulder, and I know she's waiting for me to stop typing so that she can go to bed.
