Read my new book, The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Bird at Amazon or at many other fine distributors like Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and more.

By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. a black kite circled me and brought a friend, but there are thousands more black kites that coolly ignored me

Got a second set of hotel/meal passes from the airline. On inspection, it seems I will be put up in the actual airport hotel on the way back. Makes sense, since I have far less stop-over time.

Finally had a good night's sleep, although I still got up a little too early today. We headed out to do some shopping. It is an oddity that we found what we were looking for -- the rare bird book I saw listed on Amazon for around $300 -- in the very first place we stopped. It wasn't any $300 either. On the other hand, it may not be an entirely authorized copy? Hmmm... in any case, it is much lighter and more colorful than my hardback edition. I also bought a foo foo Nepalese lovebird toy (described as a wall decoration, not as a lovebird toy) and a completely unnecessary souvenir T-shirt. But the prices were too low to pass up the cute...

We actually took a ride in the rickhsaw to get to the shopping district but it was like a five minute ride/ten minute walk so perhaps it was a little silly. But, hey, I'm a tourist in this town.

So far, I think my new life birds are House Crow, Jungle Myna (the subspecies with the bright yellow eye), Oriental Magpie-Robin, Oriental White-eye, and Common Tailorbird. We have also seen a great many fruit bats nesting right on the noisiest street in Kathmandu, although I am assured that they are not the same species as the ones nesting in Sydney. Similar concept though...

We are going to inspect the monkey temple a bit later and then get together with the rest of the group to get ready for the official start of the tour tomorrow. Apparently it's just two more people, so it should be pretty smooth sailing, as long as the plane doesn't bounce too much tomorrow.

A cute sight was a pair of red-vented bulbuls snuggling together on a branch. I swear at one point they were giving kisses...
