Read my new book, The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Bird at Amazon or at many other fine distributors like Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and more.

By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. Adult readers only please -- explicit sex and violence. For updates on the "Dead Tree Project" and other topics, you may visit the official fan site, Passages in the Void..

RIP bob casale

2014-02-19 - 10:09 a.m.

I was a little shocked to hear that Devo's Bob Casale died. I actually didn't realize he was that much older than me. I thought we were the same age. So when I first saw the headline, I'm thinking "wtf" in more ways than one. Apparently it was quite sudden.

I'll never forget seeing them at the Sanger back in the day. Great performance. Tons of energy...

He was 61, and they're saying heart disease. Sudden is certainly the way to go if you're the one who has to die but it leaves everyone else standing around in a bit of a shock. Evidently they were actually thinking of touring again.

On another note, I went into a couple of used book stores yesterday in search of the rare book. No luck although I somehow came out with the Birds of New Zealand. I hardly realized they had any native birds left. Be that as it may, the Covington store was jam-packed with vinyl records and even turn tables. Sorry. I just don't get it. I got rid of all my vinyl years ago, and I'm not looking back! The toothpaste is not going back in the tube, as far as I'm concerned.

Someone bought a $300 pair of headphones by going through a link on one of my pages -- probably my fan blog for localroger -- and gave me the Amazon commission. Thanks, mystery person. You made our day!

There's a winter snow storm warning for Hibbing, Minnesota tomorrow. Oh frabjous day. But if I can just get there, looks like it will be bright overcast the rest of the weekend...
