Read my new book, The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Bird at Amazon or at many other fine distributors like Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and more.

By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

the chemical in question is beer

I escaped these stormy United States without much incident. The business class product on American Airlines MIA-MSY is a little sad. Not MIA-VVI sad -- the seats do "sorta" lie flat -- but still kinda sad. The toothpaste in my amenity kit was dried out. And there was only one business class lav. So it was far from a luxurious experience. However, the two glasses of predeparture sparkling wine were a nice touch, and the steak I'd preordered ahead of time was actually good. The cabin was really too bright though. They had overhead TVs and even though the FAs offered people personal tablets, they didn't turn off the overhead TVs and the movies apparently went all night, as I don't remember ever waking up in the middle of the night to peace and darkness.

I was worried about D. because I thought he wouldn't be able to get out here thanks to the latest northeast snowstorm. However, he saw it coming and actually changed his flight to arrive in Madrid even earlier. So now we are all here at the airport hotel, even though there is really no person left to wait for -- just the rental vehicle.

Check out the great view from my room. I joked that it was a chemical plant but I'm certain it's actually a brewery. Heh.

We just had a terrific lunch with tortellini, wine, and espresso so wheee....I am supposed to be napping to recover from my jet lag before dinner.
