another day, another rant that no one else need bother to read 2014-12-08 - 9:30 a.m. It wasn't my imagination that my former brokers wanted to shed small retirement accounts. The not-so-small new fee was, indeed, a hint. When I called them to walk me through the paperwork of moving elsewhere, they were positively bubbly about the fact that I was rolling over to somebody else. At least it was quick and easy. Got a confirmation this weekend from the new firm that all was where it should be... Nonetheless, I will admit it's getting a bit scary. Now that there's really only rich and poor, and no legal way I can imagine for 99% of us to become rich, then everything is about shedding customers and hiking prices. This allows businesses to make as much, or more, money with a far smaller staff because they are servicing far fewer people. I suppose it's all very nice for those businesses to get more money for less work but why should basic items like BUTTER be priced as if only millionaires might like to eat? As far as retirement, it isn't as if anyone sane really wants to get old and be refused the ability to work.
