2003-01-29 - 4:28 p.m. I'm feeling a bit under the weather and just hanging out and trying to get some rest by playing around on the internet when what to my wondering eye should appear, but a story by Matt Drudge on the puppet-king's hair, the subject of my rant only yesterday. I sat up a little straighter, because the badly dyed hair was shown in painful close-up in a photograph posted by Yahoo News on Tuesday, Jan. 28 (that's yesterday!), at 11:38 A.M. Eastern Time. The photograph purports to show the resident preparing for the SOTU speech, and it clearly shows off the botched drugstore quality dye job. So, some nice thoughtful folks -- I'm thinking Democrats -- emailed Drudge a link to the photograph, along with an older photograph showing the former grey in the resident's hair, and they asked him to do a news story on the fact that Bush dyes his hair. After all, Drudge likes hair stories. He reports on Bill Clinton's and John Kerry's haircuts. So why not full coverage of this burning fashion issue? Welly welly well, for whatever reason -- I'm thinking stupidity -- Drudge mixed up the photographs and has the dyed hair photograph, taken yesterday, labeled as a photograph taken two years ago. His "report" claims that the heavy responsibilities of office are turning the poor boy's hair completely grey. He has it completely back-asswards. I must, I must, I must learn how to grab and cache these bloopers for future enjoyment. minutes later Some folks are checking around but it looks like the older, grayer picture on Drudge was taken today, which means that the puppet-king must have had a good look at himself in a mirror and screamed to have the bad dye job stripped from his hair. I've had to have color stripped off my hair before, and I don't envy him that pleasant experience. But, truly, yesterday's style was freakish in tone and evenness of color. I wonder if he got the color stripped before or after the SOTU? I've checked some photos grabbed off TV sets but it's difficult to tell.
