Another day, another parade of Indigo Buntings. Someone posted that he had Blue Buntings -- a very great rarity in Louisiana -- and got scolded. They were actually Blue Grosbeaks, but it's a typo I've almost made myself a couple of times.

Another day, another shit Instagram photo to get something in my account. After all the scrubbing and hauling and moving things around on that bird porch, I really ought to take a few pictures while all the plants still look perf...but the one that actually came out was a closeup of Dale at her chewed-up nesthole.

Although...eek! The Instagram has made her lovely blood orange eyes a dreadful shade of gray. I guess that's some kind of automatic red-eye remover, even though the Instagram program never seems to actually remove any red-eye in PEOPLE.


Mr. Blue Jay is sick of this crap. He just knocked three adult male Indigo Buntings off the feeder. How many Indigo Buntings live in this world anyway? He thinks they have all visited my seed feeder.


The female Cardinal is back to bathe and splash in my stone mosaic birdbath. Nyota was in the window jumping from foot to foot she was so excited...
