fun with self-publishing 2014-09-28 - 8:11 a.m. I published Roger's The Passage Home Kindle short this week. Amazon changed the set-up so that you can now just stick in a Word Doc and get a properly formatted and converted book out of their site. That's cool. Calibre was taking up wayyyyyy too much memory on my computer for wayyyyy too much hassle, and now I could just delete it. Then I found out that you can't get the Mobi files back off Amazon so that you can give readers Kindle-compatible advance reader's copies. My friend said, "Oh, just give reviewers a PDF." I'm already asking people to do me the favor of reading a whole book and then log into Amazon and post a review. Ain't nobody got time for a PDF! Most frustrating... However, I do have the new short story all nicely linked to the right Roger Williams, and his Amazon Author's Channel is now neatly linked to his fan blog.
