By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

wolf whistle

2013-02-12 - 8:01 a.m.

22 years in this house today...also it's Mardi Gras, but a damp, clammy one, so we're going to lay low. So cute yesterday when I brought Cookie and Nyota into the kitchen to help me fix dinner. Cookie started to wolf whistle Nyota. That Amazon adores that little lovebird.

I got two polish barrels off the tumbler this weekend. One barrel featured mostly clear/very lightly tinted rose quartz and smoky quartz, with a few compatible materials like amethyst and green aventurine in there. The other barrel was the jaspagate.

Maybe I should have photographed the entire run, but then again...since Photobucket is doing some kind of weird change-over and taking 15 minutes to load a page...maybe not. Anyway, there's a small sample photo of my favorites, including the light amethyst that Cookie used to like to play with. When he tired of it, I tossed it in the tumbler.

And...would you believe that I've had the thick slab that this cabochon came from for over 20 years?'s finished!

I don't work fast but I have to admit that I finally like the result.
