Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

quick zoobilation 2013 report

2013-06-11 - 5:40 p.m.

I was going to do a photo report of Zoobilation 2013 but the cell phone camera experiment was a failure. Sorry, the Galaxy Samsung whatever it's called camera lens is just terrible by my snotty standards. So the two pictures I already posted are probably all you're going to get.

We had a bit of a Louisiana theme going this time. You have to pick and choose what you are going to do, because there are so many feedings going on at once.

We started at the Whooping Crane feeding, where the two big guys were shadowed by a pesky White Ibis.

Strolled through the African exhibit where the African wild dogs put on quite a playful show of chasing around.

The pelicans were hanging out on the island where the cormorants nest, as was the guardian Great Egret in yesterday's photograph.

On to the swamp exhibit, where we had a lively Black Bear and the almost too exciting alligator feeding. One of the alligators actually stole one of the feeding poles, forcing the guy to feed them by hand for a few minutes.

Scary...

Behind the scenes at the swamp exhibit...a stroll through South America where we were invited to feed grapes to a flock of female Greater Rheas...onward to the bird aviary where we saw the new lovely Blue-headed Macaw pair and also a new baby softbill with its mom. Can't remember the softbill's name right now. Not a commonly held species in captivity, I don't think...

Oh, and for some reason the Sacred Ibis and Straw-billed Ibis decided to nest at ground level instead of in their rock caves. Close enough to touch. So cute...!
