three mississippi kites
2003-05-12 - 3:49 p.m.
I had no luck getting the title transfer for the van. It was the usual
paperwork run-around that you expect from the great state of
Louisiana. Apparently, the signed bill of sale, which would be
perfectly valid in Mississippi, is not enough in Louisiana because
"Mississippi is not a notary state but..." Argh.
My parents have come down from Knoxville, and we had lunch
together at Morton's since Friends was closed. Then we took
a short walk on the trail near the railroad tracks in
Ponchatoula. It was a bad time of day for a bird walk, but
we still managed to get excellent looks at three
Mississippi Kites chasing insects. Lots of
White Ibis, lots of Redwings.
Here's the list:
- Great Egret
- Snowy Egret
- Little Blue Heron
- Cattle Egret (roadside)
- White Ibis
- Mississippi Kite
- Red-Bellied Woodpecker -- heard
- American Crow
- Northern Cardinal -- heard
- Red-Winged Blackbird
