stuffed squash 2010-11-03 - 7:52 p.m. , all photos � 2010 by elaine radford one wing of the huge minister's tree house in crossville, tennessee Last night we watched a bunch of shows on the SF channel while I was eating nothing but satsuma for dinner and trying to recover some ability to digest. In the morning we headed out to the so-called Standing Stone State Park. Was it a megalith or a natural stone just standing alone? Well, in the event, we found lots of orange autumn trees, an old-time dam, and some green water -- but no standing stone, natural or otherwise. Onward to Crossville, in search of the Minister's Tree House. I'm not sure why they don't just break down and admit it's a tourist attraction and put up some signs. Someone gave us the owner's name, and he told us to "come on down," and so we did. Again, the photographs will have to tell the tale of this eccentric structure, but we climbed up and up and around and around, and up some more, and I think we got some pretty nifty photos. When we publish our trip report, we'll be sure to put some driving instructions in addition to our photographs, since we had trouble finding good directions. See, because Peachfront is just kind and helpful like that, right? On the way out of town, I'm afraid we stopped at the nearby winery to purchase some local Pinot Gris and Chardonnay -- just doing our part to stimulate the American economy, you understand. On to Knoxville, where my mom fixed on of those HUGE dinners where everyone ate much too much. Ham, fancy stuffed acorn squash, sweet potato pie.
