Read my new book, The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Bird at Amazon or at many other fine distributors like Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and more.

By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. Adult readers only please -- explicit sex and violence. For updates on the "Dead Tree Project" and other topics, you may visit the official fan site, Passages in the Void..

who's the booby now?

2014-01-07 - 9:15 a.m.

Solved the mystery of the Brown Booby. It's a scope object from where we were standing, so the cool plan to eyeball the buoy first and then get a scope on the bird was not quite right. Also it wasn't a buoy, it's a navigation marker that's way out there. Sigh. However, people are still seeing the bird, so I hope to go back before it leaves.

The Long-Tailed Duck that I saw there in a previous year has also returned so...

Very little water pressure and no internet when I got up this morning. It's still freezing and everyone is dripping water to save their pipes but I don't get why the internet gets an excuse to lay down on the job...

I have already tried two new recipes this year, but neither one of them captured my attention. I made poultry seasoning and then turkey cutlets with pan gravy, but I think it was too mild for deep South palates. Maybe somebody from Kansas would have liked it.

The second recipe was the Tim Ferris low-carb crabcakes without any Ritz crackers or breading. It was quick and easy but nothing really special considering the price of crab. Won't try either of those the same way again.
