So...the troubled tree's crop is ready, and I went ahead and picked as many as I could see, before the raccoons or the aphids or whoever gets them. We selected a nice botswana agate nodule last night. I turned it around, looking for eyes, and suggested an angle of attack for DH's saw. The result? As you can see, a wonderful sequence of well-marked slabs with colors ranging from light blue to cherry chocolate. The photographs are not actually as good as the stones. I may photograph them again some time. should be able to cut a fine cab out of this one...complete with eye... a thicker than usual slab -- i'm tempted to grind off the rough edges but leave on the "rind" to make an oversized pendant No hurry with any of these grand designs.
