crowned cranes in the rain 2004-01-16 - 8:09 p.m. Kenya's dry season involves considerably more rain than I had been led to understand. I have no idea how many inches we received in Amboselli National Park today. Four? Six? It was enough to make fording the streams in a non-four-wheel-drive vehicle quite the adventure. The most hilarious sight of the day was a soaking wet Fish Eagle (a relative to our Bald Eagle, from the looks of it) sitting out on a bare limb not even bothering to try to think about getting dry. Too much happening, too many new birds, too much to tell. I have already used up one paper journal and started on another. Much, much more in February. Just don't believe everything you read in the Kilaguni log journal about elephants charging one's vehicle.
