By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. oops, having realized that this is not the most interesting entry for anybody who doesn't happen to be, well, me, at least here's a quick photo of apollo 10 to catch the eye, it's in the london museum of science now, maybe we had to donate it to the british after the resident landed in the queen's garden that time in a noisy helicopter and messed up all her rare shrubs

I've started a clean-up for the various visitors that may be coming. Where do all of the magazines come from? The last one that I paid to subscribe to was Bird Watcher's Digest, a magazine I first subscribed to in, I believe, 1980, and which I only stopped taking after Katrina, in 2005, when I realized that magazine subscriptions are one more thing to keep track of when you're evacuated and can't get hold of your mail. But I get any number of them sent to me free for various reasons, promotions, nice zip code to show to advertisers, or what have you.

So..."cleaning" becomes a matter of sitting back, skimming magazines for any articles I've missed that I want to read, clipping the items I want to keep. No wonder it goes so slowly.

We did finally get a nice hard rain yesterday, and Timmy took a deep soaking in his water dish. He won't let me give him a shower, runs into his nestbox when I try. But he's all spanking clean and looking great now.

DH, Cookie, and I watched the season premier of the new Simpsons, King of the Hill, and Family Guy. I think Cookie liked the first two best, maybe only because they were shorter. It was the Family Guy Star Wars episode, a full hour, and maybe they didn't have to re-create every single scene of the movie if they wanted to hold a parrot's tiny attention span.

I thought again of the scene from The Hollywood Dodo that I pasted into my diary. "Gallantry" is the word that keeps springing to mind. I really like this hero.
