Some winter Chipping Sparrows on the feeder this foggy morning. Some summer "breeding" adults that haven't changed yet, for that matter.
The
lamb-stuffed
merlitons are history. They were just too damn tasty, and they got tastier
after overnighting in the fridge to let their flavors mingle a bit longer.
The Cut Your Grocery Bill in Half couple forgot to mention that "power"
cooking can be a dangerous hobby if you're a good cook. I should have gotten suspicious along about the time that they suggested that you write down
all of the recipes that you know how to make. Impossible unless you're
pretty much a total noob to cooking. Which, in fairness, they do disclose
that the wife (the family chef) was such a noob when they got on
the grocery cost-cutting kick.
The brined turkey
looked gorgeous and was beautifully moist. A tad salty to my mind but, all
in all, two thumbs up, will cook again...In the interests of full disclosure,
I will confess that both drumsticks and both wings have already been eaten. Again, this power/volume cooking is a dangerous thing. Maybe you'll save
time, money, and energy -- or maybe you'll just eat more.
