Read my new book, The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Bird at Amazon or at many other fine distributors like Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and more.

By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

I often think that I am very frequently sorry I bought something and never sorry I didn't buy something. But I've never thought it more often than I have this month.

I now understand why they hide all the buttons on the new Kindle to make it hard to use. Once you do learn to use it, you find out that almost all of your books -- hundreds of them -- didn't follow you to your new device and you must go into your account and add them, painfully, only ten at a time! I don't know when I will ever have the time to do this or when they think anyone would ever have the time to do this. And let's be honest. Any book you leave in the cloud is a book you will never read. At this point I honestly don't know what I'm going to do. I'll try to get some material on it. But it really makes me sad that just when I'm thinking of writing for Kindle, I can see why more and more people are giving up on books only a few years after the encouraging surge in reading. It just isn't worth it. You think you have bought a book but once you get a new device... you are never going to be able to find that book again.
