cutest baby on the block 2012-06-14 - 9:24 a.m. The baby Red-Bellied Woodpecker still comes to the feeder every day. However, I still only get visits from adult Red-Heads. Who understands the ways and whyfores of woodpeckers? Right as I post my baby Red-Belly is sharing the feeder with one of the Blue Jays. Too cute. I got a small re-write job for a blog. And, get this, I got paid almost instantly. Not a lot, but if it were a magazine, I'd get paid maybe sometime in early 2014. No more magazines, I don't think, even if I do manage to get the writing business started up again. You just spend way too much time doing collections, months or even, sometimes, years after the work is done. I can't put off eating for 18 months, right? So why do they think they can put off paying me for 18 months? I have finished restoring the chest of drawers I was working on. Must photograph it and post it on craigslist. Heck, must post it here as a brag. I stand amazed at how well it came out. Bought my tickets for Knoxville and also for Los Angeles when the Tuesday sales came out. I also did a mini app-a-rama. Really, really mini. I only applied for 3 new cards. Got instant approval on the first three and then slunk away in despair when the 4th bank said they'd let me know in 7-10 days. I told D. I'd apply for the Fairmont card and, if I got it, we could use his miles to go to Jasper and use my points for the hotel. But, in the event, I didn't get the Fairmont card. So now I wish I hadn't said anything.
