who moved my jackpot? 2011-08-22 - 7:53 a.m. I wrote yesterday's entry under the influence of a cranberry "energy drink" from our hurricane supplies of 25 cents a liter energy drinks. Later, IMOM stumbled awake and fixed real coffee, and we went out on the bird porch to inspect the avian activity. The Ruby-Throats are definitely back, and they're using both feeders. In a brief interval of time, I would see birds take a drink and then park in the shady Japanese plum tree or in the tangled weed tree that the neighbors have allowed to infest the telephone wires -- all the better to keep an eye on the feeders and watch out for other hummingbirds to chase. After some debate, we decided that we should return and make another run at the BBJ. This time, while again nobody hit the jackpot, at least we had plenty of boards that made jackpots possible. After one dealer dealt out three paired, high straight/royal flushing boards in a row, I said to him, "Well, you're putting out the right boards, we're just not playing the right cards." I was running ice cold -- so cold that in 7-3/4 hours of play, I never earned a single contest entry for the contest where you earn a ticket to a drawing for all straight or better hands. I had a invisibly small win for the weekend -- I'm personally amazed that I won anything at all, but I somehow managed to hang in there and pick up the occasional upswing -- but fortunately IMOM got on a heater and had a nice win, and the team win for the weekend is actually pretty near to my guess as to the actual expected win rate for the game in question. There were more people in the poker room, although I don't know about in the casino as a whole. We didn't try to battle the buffet again.
