2005-09-12 - 2:07 a.m. It's the little things. Diaryland found my private entries, although Andrew seemed a little puzzled that I had only four, when I had over 1,000 public entries. No, you did it right, Andrew. That's everything, thanks! St. Tammany Parish starting getting mail service again on Saturday. That's all well and good, but what about people whose houses are uninhabitable and are staying several hundred miles away because of lack of hotel rooms and can't pick up their damn mail? I'll try to call on Monday and see if I get anything on the phone but a fast busy so I can find out if they will hold our mail awhile longer. A little additional hassle I could have done without. I still don't have our Katrina pictures up yet so here's one from Bill:
2003 by Roger Williams That's our hot tub being craned over the house after it was smashed by the oak tree which also smashed our house. later I got a call through to my insurance company. Yay! She said that they'll get the adjusters out in order of the severity and urgency of the claim, so it could be awhile. But at least we're on the list. She said if we were able to make repairs, to take good pictures and keep the receipts, but to go ahead and get the ball rolling if we were able. Of course, there will be a shortage of workers too. But at least we're in the system. Because the deductible for hurricane damage is so high, and because DH missed nine days of work, I just tried to file a claim with FEMA in case we are eligible. You hear different stories. But if they want to help out and redeem themselves, I'll give them their chance. Their website was a little weird though. I'm not confident that they really got my claim, since there was no way to check or go back to be sure I filled everything out correctly. That doesn't seem like it should be correct. Heck, you get a confirmation page if you order a package of parsley seeds online. Oh well, I'll see if I can check in again in a couple days.
