sheepskin 2011-12-18 - 9:23 a.m. A low key day. The sun finally came out. As I mentioned, I had to trash my raincoat, but my mom gave me a mouton jacket, so my suitcase is heavier than ever. Mouton, if anyone cares, is sheepskin that has been somehow dyed, combed out, and trimmed short to resemble seal. There's a clasp missing that I'll have to replace but it's otherwise very foofy. Some horrid lady at the drugstore the other day asked me if my New Zealand sheepskin jacket -- which is unashamedly grey with big bold curls to make it obvious that it's sheep -- well, she asked me if it was rabbit. Does it look like rabbit? I felt like saying. But that's all beside the point. My Mom got movie tickets as a Christmas gift, so we went to see My Week With Marilyn. While I don't doubt that drunken drug addicts spent a lot of time asleep or making ill-advised seductions of whomever is standing around, I quickly realized that I don't believe this story at all. This guy who is a go-fer for some film suddenly remembers, 40 years later, after everybody who can say him nay is dead, that he got it on with Marilyn Monroe. Sure he did. But it served to pass the time without any great expenditure of brainpower. Early dinner at a Mexican restaurant with a bitter waiter.
