House Sparrow
As usual, it's an airspace deal. The bird does not have to be in my yard to be counted. It has to be seen from my yard or from within my house. The best bird might be Calliope Hummingbird, as only a handful (I'm thinking less than 5) seem to be reported from my parish each year. The best summer bird might be Swallow-Tailed Kite, not a rarity, but just for all-round coolness and swooping low over the house like it's thinking of catching something bigger than a dragonfly. Such as a plump, juicy Peachfront Conure. (Just kidding, guys!)
