Read my new book, The 10 Best Things You Can Do For Your Bird at Amazon or at many other fine distributors like Barnes & Noble, iTunes, Kobo, and more.

By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

Here's our Yellow Rails and Rice Festival List. Lots of people got lots more birds, depending on how hard they worked and what field trips they added, but we had a nice list just taking it the easy way. Enjoy. My new life birds are ALL CAPS AND IN BOLD so you won't miss 'em.

We also saw some pipits, probably American Pipits, but the leaders saw both American and Sprague's, and we didn't see them well enough, so I won't count them. We were really going to chase down some pipits and actually look at them, but we got distracted with the glamor birds like La Conte's Sparrow and those charming Great Horned Owls, so that's the way it goes sometimes.

A Brief List of some other animals:

  1. Leopard Frog
  2. Northern or Broad-Banded Water Snake -- I will probably have to learn more about this one from my photo and the internet
  3. American Alligator
  4. Raccoon
