2010-03-05 - 9:29 a.m. Played 8 hours of 2/5 NL yesterday. If anyone noticed that I had two black eyes under my sunglasses, they didn't say anything. I tend to think they didn't notice. So much for the amazing observational powers of poker players. I may have turned my pocket aces into a bluff on the river, or I may have actually folded out a better hand -- kid claims he folded a set but I tend to doubt it -- but I went all in on a T 5 6 9 7 board after doing the check/call thing on the turn. I don't think the hand was particularly well played, but if he was, in fact, bluffing into my aces, as I suspected, then I got a larger pot by letting him make a decent-sized bluff on the turn. The game started playing loose as a goose in the later part of the evening. How often do you see 9 players to a flop at 2/5 NL? I saw it at least twice last night. My big bad monster multi-way hand of the night was A ♣ 5 ♣ on the button. It's something like five or six players in for $25 each -- I'll say six players for total money in the middle of $150. Flop: 8 ♣ 6 ♣ 4 ♦ Some idiot thinks he's gonna steal it with a $100 donk bet, pre-flop raiser calls the $100, and now there's already $350 in the pot. I have the nut flush draw and the gut-shot straight draw for 12 outs. I have $420 remaining in my stack. I push all-in, and fold, fold, fold, donker folds, and back to the pre-flop raiser. He goes into the big think and finally calls. Wheeeeee! Turn: A ♠ Of course, since I think the dude has to call my huge all-in shove with more than just one pair, I don't count that as an out. I was thinking my shove was good because I've got a combo of 12 outs plus fold equity. Truth was, I had 15 outs but, against this guy, NO fold equity. But 15 outs twice...hey, I'm still the favorite. The river's a brick, and I flip over my pair of Aces, five kicker. Dude stares and glares for at least three minutes before he finally folds. Go me. I was stacking chips for years.
