I'm afraid to say anything about the terrible drought after all the floods of the past few years, but it makes it impossible to restore the yard. The troubled satsuma tree in the front is not afraid to say anything -- all of its leaves have curled in heat distress. I feel bad for it, helpless too. I'm afraid to stand around outside in the bright glaring cloudless sunlight until my burn heals, and in any case the water hose doesn't reach that far anyway. Maybe today we'll actually get one of those scattered thunderstorms they keep talking about. One of the thugs killed in New Orleans this week, the 22 year old killed on Tuesday, sounds like he won't be missed. Apparently, when he was 13, he did a home invasion in Jefferson and shot the husband dead in the head in front of the wife. Why was he out on the street in the first place after a crime like that? I really don't care if he was a so-called juvenile when he did it. You shouldn't get a free kill just because you're under-age. They say the five teen thugs shot down on Friday were confirmed to have been involved in some gun crimes in Kenner but they aren't giving details "because of their ages." Hello? Dead people don't have a right to privacy. You are not protecting the no-hoper's future any more by concealing evidence of his heinous crimes. He's dead, Jim.
