By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. parmesan-crusted chicken

let's go shopping in munich
 2005 by Elaine Radford
Note: Don't forget to read all about my Munich trip starting right here, or go back a few weeks to read about my Paris trip starting right here.

We had dinner at Vincent's last night. I wore the grey/black knit dress and the "like crockwork" boots. I had the parmesan-crusted chicken, and DH had the veal parmesan. I thought we might switch a few bites, but DH ate all of his and had no room for mine, so I just enjoyed the extra piece of chicken for breakfast.

I brought a breadstick home for Cookie and Timmy. I broke it in four pieces and gave the first to Timmy. He flung it down in a fury. I gave the second to Cookie, who settled down and began to crunch away. Then I put the third in Timmy's bowl. He looked at Cookie and then at the breadstick, and then to my delight he began to eat it. I put the fourth in Cookie's bowl, knowing he could handle both.

Later I walked by and happened to see that both birds -- yes, Timmy! -- were playing with their toys. Timmy always pretends that he hates his toys. Well, he does if he knows that people are watching. What an odd little bird.

I realize that bangs have been out of fashion since 1997, but I'm tired of looking at my long forehead, so now I have them. They'll grow out if I hear too much fuss from the peanut gallery. For that matter, they'll grow out if I don't hear any fuss.

I unwrapped the big satsuma tree and the cactus. I don't think it will freeze again this year. Hell, I could have unwrapped them in January. But I'll be a little annoyed if I'm wrong. I also put out a couple of supports for the peas but I really need to put out a lot more. There is one, exactly one, asparagus in the garden. I'll guess I'll use it today at lunch with some of my lettuce and my remaining radish. The sad truth is that several of the vegetable patches are scarily overgrown.

I posted links to some of my trip reports on the "older traveller" section of the lonelyplanet website. It's a bit nervy, since I think almost any older traveller is more experienced than I am, but when it comes to information, you've gotta give if you wanna get, so I'll share my little bit of knowledge and hope not too many people burst out laughing.
