By public demand, and after a delay of an embarrassing number of years, I've finally put my notorious essay, Ender and Hitler: Sympathy for the Superman, free on the fabulous internets.

A bibliography of my published books and stories.

Here's a simple card-counting FAQ to get you up to speed on the basics. Here's the true story of the notorious DD' blackjack team, told for the first time on the fabulous internets. No other team went from a starting investor's bankroll of zero to winning millions of dollars.

A Sadean take on Asimov's classic Three Laws of Robotics can be found in Roger Williams' NOW REVIEWED ON SLASHDOT!!! The Metamorphosis of Prime Intellect. poisonous glow-in-the-dark red snappers, i don't think so

2005-11-11 - 9:50 a.m.

Last night we watched The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. It was cute. I bet the bird dudes are just as whacky when the tourists aren't looking. Not that it's a true story or anything.

The "adjusted living expenses" adjuster finally called me yesterday. I about fell off my perch. Not that she knows anything about anything like when we'll get some money. But I'd pretty much decided that she was a mythical being with no name and no number. Allstate only wants to pay for the first 2 weeks. That ain't gonna fly. This neighborhood didn't have power until September 19. But, hey, at least give us something to get started with.

My evacuee didn't get his Red Cross check. Since he was trapped out of town for weeks, I am dead certain that someone else stole his identity and claimed what he was entitled to. I'm even pretty sure who it is -- someone who was flat broke and is suddenly splashing a lot of money about and posing as a professional contractor. He had to rip off a lot more people than just one to suddenly have that kind of money, since he has no credit and has never even held a job for more than a few months. It's a shame how scum can rise to the surface.

We have baskets and baskets of satsumas this year. Even though there was never a freeze to give them a pinch of extra sugar, they're still pretty good. The troubled tree in the front yard only produced one small satsuma. Strangely, that one was the sweetest of them all. Hmmm.
