A plaque at the impressive Worcester Cathedral proclaims that it
has offered Christian service since the 7th century. Perhaps because
they were preparing for evensong and had just cleared the place
of tourist cooties, I sensed a strong sensation of spirit in this
particular cathedral. I noticed a sheila-na-gig tucked away in
the entrance hall, but I wasn't sure if it would be disrespectful
to photograph it, so I didn't. There was an amazing collection of
children's art being presented in this hall which left me stunned
at the talent of today's schoolkids. It's a little scary how gifted
kids are these days. I blame the color TV!
Here I am staring up at the huge old gates that lead to the
Worcester Cathedral grounds:
Stepping back to get a better view of the gate, I can show that
I would only be a dot if I tried to get in the picture:
No interior photo could hope to capture the size and beauty of
this magnificent structure, and I was reluctant to use flash within
the cathedral, but I snuck a stained glass photo that may give
a tiny hint of the magnificence that awaits you here:
Another view of the ruin of the old church:
